Halloween Festivities

Jaxon had a fever on Halloween weekend. Turns out he got his first ear infection. We didn't get to go trick-or-treating, but he discovered that he LOVES Kit Kats!
Here is waiting for the next group of trick-or-treaters. He is chewing threw the package of his first Kit Kat. (Don't worry - I opened it for him.) He loved passing out candy. Everytime the doorbell rang, he ran to the door. He was very generous and very cute!
We carved a pumpkin the day before. He wasn't very interested in cleaning out the seeds. He kept trying to put the lid back on his "pump"!
Or taking the lid off when we were done carving it.

The weekend before Halloween we visited the Pumpkin Patch. He loved running down the little hill between the pumpkins.
It was hard to get him to stop and pose for a picture.

He was trying to pick up heavy pumpkins or yell "catch" with the little pumpkins!

Luckily, he was able to wear his costume the week before at our school's Fall Festival. He was a UPS delivery guy like his Uncle Jamie. He had to put down his package to hold a pumpkin of course.
He was a great help at the bean bag toss. He would collect the bags and take them to the next kid in line.

Even though he was sick, he had a great Halloween!

Too much junk?

There were a few days in a row that we ate a lot of junk food! We went to a birthday party. Jaxon mostly ate Cheetos, cake, and ice cream.
On his daddy's birthday, he ate cookies. For dinner, he would only eat chips and jalopeno ranch dip from Chuy's. (This is his smile when he says, "Cheeeeese!" for the camera. I have a few too many pictures of this smile!)

The next day, he had cake at a baby shower. By dinner time, this silly boy was begging for peas and broccoli. Phew! I thought I had ruined him. Turns out he has self control after all...for now...

Football Season

Jaxon loves to play football with his daddy!
Hut! Hut!

Run! Run!

And he's tackled!

He even wants to sleep with the football.
When I open the door in the morning, there he is standing with his football.
Ready to start the day!

On a Walk...

Jaxon and I love to go for a walk around the block. He loves dogs! When they bark, he claps...no matter how mean they sound!
He peeks in people's back yard if he thinks they might have a dog back there.

There is a great little trail behind our house full of acorns to stomp and throw.

Jackpot - a sprinkler! Always a great place to stop and get a drink!

Run! Run! Run!

Stomp! Stomp! Stomp!

Go by the neighbor's house and visit his dogs.

Play with his water hose.

Climb in his yard.

And stomp some more acorns.

How Reading Begins

Today, in the car, Jaxon was in the back seat reading a book. He wasn't just looking at the pictures this time. He was turning the pages and saying the animal sounds for every animal on the page. That's how reading begins....

Check Up!

18 month stats: 32 in and 24 lb 6 oz
He is still in the 25-50%.

He cried more when the doctor looked in his ears than when he go the shots. After his shots, I told him to tell the nurse "Thank you", and of course, he did. Then, he waved and said "bye-bye" to her. He doesn't hold a grudge.

While waiting for the doctor, he wanted to play in the sink or open the door and peek out into the hallway. It was a bit annoying, but it's impressive that he could open the door. : )

Mama and Jax shared french fries and a chocolate shake after that adventure!

He finally got another tooth. That is only #9, but I think more are coming soon....good times....

It isn't new for him to make animal noises, but boy, has he gotten good at it! He does the perfect meow and roar as well as many others. I love it!

Last week, Dot put Jaxon in jammies with the built in feet. He looked down and said, "I want my toes." Too cute!

18 months

It is hard to believe Jaxon is already 18 months. He has grown and changed so much in the last few months. He amazes me everyday. Here are some things Jaxon is doing now...

- He still loves to play with balls. Cadence gave him her basketball goal, and he loves to shoot some hoops! He shoots from all angles, close up, and far away. He squats and says "1, 2, 3" or "Ready, Set, Go!" He hasn't quite mastered the release yet so he kind of just freezes in the squat. It's hilarious. He has to walk up close to actually score some points.

- He is really trying to learn how to jump and throw a ball in the air. It's really cute.

- At school the other day, I handed him a kick ball. He threw a huge fit. I was so confused. Turns out he wanted the football.

- Speaking of football....everytime he sees someone tackled on TV, he says, "uh-oh!"

- His teacher at daycare was trying to get him to eat his banana, but instead he pointed to Kallie's food and said, "I want that." She was impressed he is used a sentence. : )

- He loves going to daycare again. He seemed to remember everything as soon as we walked in. He naps for over 2 hours there - amazing! When we drive there, we ask them where we are going, and he says, "school."

I love that boy!

Is there an echo in here?

So I'm carrying Jaxon down the stairs...carefully holding the hand rail, of course...but the cat runs up the stairs and trips me. Naturally, I yell, "sh**!" and what do you think Jaxon yells?

Duh, Duh, Duh

We are so blessed to have good friends that are willing to babysit our sweet boy! Amanda babysat Jaxon while we went out for our anniversary. When I walked in his room the next morning, he said, "Duh, Duh, Duh, Duh!" He couldn't wait to tell me how his friend, Amanda, fed him, gave him a bath, read to him, and put him to bed. He loved it!

Early Riser

Everytime Jaxon wakes up, he cries. When I go into his room, I tell him he doesn't need to cry. If he yells mom, I'll come and get him. Today, he woke up at 5:55 am. When this happens, I try to ignore him and he usually goes back to sleep for at least 30 more minutes. Well, this time, I heard crying for a few minutes, and then, I heard, "Mom, Mom, Mom, Mom, Mom..." So what do you think I did?

First, I smiled. Then, I went and got my boy!

Fun stuff...

Jaxon continues to make us smile and laugh everyday....

Last night, he escaped from the room at bedtime and ran down the hall. He went straight to his dad, patted his arm, and said, "my dad".

He also likes to escape at bathtime. Dad takes off his diaper, and he runs under his legs towards the stairs saying, "Mama".

Today, I had to go to work so he spent the whole day with Dad. Dad moved his little playscape by the pool, and Jaxon slid in Superman style. When I walked in the door at the end of the day, he was sitting on the couch with his daddy. He looked at me, patted his dad, and said "my dad". He continued to tell me all about his day and how he spent it with his dad.....maybe it would have sounded like jibberish to you, but I knew what he was saying.....

After a long day playing with daddy, Jaxon fell asleep in my lap when I got home. While he was asleep, a commercial with a dog came on the TV. Apparently, he recognized the music even in his sleep because he whipped his head around and sat up to watch it. Of course he pointed and said, "dog" (if only you could write it the same cute way he says it).

Jaxon likes to put a snack in his hand, and then let Blue chase him around the island in the kitchen.

When the pizza was delivered tonight, he saw it and said, "ewwww" (his favorite excited sound). Then, he ate a piece of super supreme pizza. I love that he likes good food! When we ordered him a hamburger off the kid's menu earlier this week, we had to ask the waitress to put everything on it. She said, "The onions and special sauce, too?" She was so confused.

We went to Kiddie Acres again. He still didn't want to ride the merry-go-round horse or real ponies, but he loves to pet them and kiss them!

I guess that's enough sharing for tonight. : )

True friends are a true blessing

Dear Jaxon,

We spent the day with some of my oldest and dearest friends. We have been laughing, loving, and making fun of each other for over 20 years. True friends are a blessing. I pray that as you grow up and develop friendships, they last a lifetime, too.
Love,
Mama

Tickle war with Cadence

I tried to get Jaxon to take a nap in the car on the way to the lake. That didn't work out so they both fell asleep on the way home before we were even out of the neighborhood!

(I realize this should be the last picture...I still have not figured out how to get pictures where I want them on this blog.)

Playing with Bryn's goggles

Loving Jud...and his cars...

Taking a break from the tickle war with Cadence to give her a hug.

All of our cute kids!

Galveston

We spent a few days in Galveston with Gevie Dot and Uncle Jeff. Jaxon had a fantastic time!

Is that my boy in another cage?!
Shark Tank at the Moody Gardens Aquarium
Aquarium Tunnel with Gevie Dot

Looking at all the cool fish with Mama

Jaxon can already write his name! Ha!

Jaxon was a little nervous at first, but once he warmed up, he loved the beach! He dug in the sand, splashed in the water, and tried blowing bubbles. We helped him jump over the waves. A few waves went over his head, but he handled it well. : )

After the beach, we went to Schlitterbaun. Jaxon thought the slides were amazing! Everytime he went down a slide he signed "more". He was wearing us out! When we got to the top of the big slide, he would start wiggling in our arms. He did not want to wait in line!

He went down this slide by himself many times, but I could not take a picture and catch him at the same time. He came down fast and then kind of went under the water. You had to be ready to get him!

He got this cute, excited smile on his face everytime he went down a slide.
Thank you, Gevie! We had a blast!!

Family on the 4th

Jaxon had a great 4th of July with his family! Gevie Dot and Pop came over to Nannie and Papa's house so he got to see both set of grandparents in one day - jackpot!

Being a wiggle worm in Dot's arms

Saying "cheese" with Pop

Lovin' on Aunt Lura (sorry the pic is so dark, but I had to include it)

Jaxon always goes straight to Uncle Glen's arms. It is so sweet.

Jaxon loves Big Nannie and her necklaces. When we were looking at the pictures, he said "ewwwww" when he saw her necklace. He remembers!

Playing with Uncle Jeramie

Helping Aunt Stephanie open her birthday present

Hangin' on the porch with Dad and Papa

Taking a break from hugging and patting Rachel's dog to admire Aunt Marla's necklace
